Presentation Synopsis: Agile or Waterfall, which is best for developing software? The answer is clearly Agile. But what is the right framework and when should we use it? Should we use Scrum, Kanban or a combination of Scrum with Kanban (also known as Scrumban)? The answer is not always clear but the panel will share their experience and help determine what might be the best framework for you teams and your organization. |
Brenda Fay
Speaker Biography: Brenda Fay is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM). Brenda has Bachelors degrees in Commerce and Arts (Economics). Brenda enjoys facilitating courses in Scrum for teams and the PMI-ACP for individuals wanting to prepare for this certification exam, both in Nova Scotia and worldwide. She has a background in advanced technology and software development. |
Pallavi Sen
Speaker Biography: Pallavi is a Senior Consultant with Barrington Consulting. She has worked on large transformation projects in Senior Project Manager, Delivery Lead, and Scrum Master roles. She believes that Agile is a people-first approach, putting people above things. Her mission is to serve the team and provide them with the right set of tools and opportunities so that they can discover their own superpowers that can help them to build products that deliver value to customers. She has often found that when the language of technology is complex, morphing it into comprehensible consumable content fosters greater team and stakeholder engagement. She believes that successful innovation requires a willingness to embrace change and promote a culture of continuous improvement. |
John Trites
Speaker Biography: John Trites is a systems engineer and a retired Royal Canadian Navy Combat Systems Engineer with 30 years of experience in IT since retiring. John is the Director of Emerging Technology for CGI’s Atlantic Business Unit and also leads the Agile and Agile-at-Scale Practice for the Atlantic Business Unit and has since 2015. John became a SAFe Program Consultant in 2016 and has conducted a number of transformations since then. John is also a test architect for CGI and provides solutioning for complex testing engagements including automation. Combining this with Agile, John has developed a highly-evolved form of Behaviour-Driven Development for one of the Canadian banks where more than 180 teams in seven different business domains have been transformed over the last four years. |
