
Ulrike Bahr-Gedalia -Building Leadership for Business Growth: Developing Competitive Advantage in the Digital Economy
Ulrike Bahr-Gedalia is the President and CEO of Digital Nova Scotia. She is a multilingual (English, German, Spanish, French, Dutch, Hebrew) senior level executive with over 20 years of combined experience in the private and public sectors, and academic institutions. Her professional and academic career spans five geographic regions – America (North), Africa (South), Middle East, Asia, and Europe.
Ulrike has vast experience in International Marketing, Research, Public Speaking, Business Development and Channel Management, with a focus on go-to-market strategies for companies in the ICT and digital sectors planning to go global. Having lived, worked and studied in the United States, the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Israel and now Canada, Ulrike has combined her passion for inclusive diversity, global perspectives, innovation and new technologies with her keen ambition to help individuals and businesses succeed in global markets.
Ulrike has worked in executive leadership roles at the headquarters of prominent technology multinationals, SMEs and start-ups in Israel, the UK, Germany, and Canada, including Intel, Compaq/HP, RAD Data Communications, Madge Networks, McAfee, Commtouch Software, and Seaside Wireless. Her diverse sector expertise in software, hardware & networking products in ICT companies, as well as software development in bio-tech, aerospace and defense industries, provides her with first-hand experience & insight into the multi-sectoral facets of the ICT sector and the breadth of career opportunities available within it.
With her significant experience in international, regional and local executive leadership positions, Ulrike has had solid exposure to a wide spectrum of economies, technologies, cultures and governments. She offers an incredibly valuable global perspective with every project, team, or organization she leads.
Ulrike was named one of Canada’s Top 40 Change-Makers in the 40th Anniversary edition (January 2015) of Canadian Living. She is also a recipient of the prestigious 2014 Progress Women of Excellence Award – – Entrepreneur/Innovator (Canada), the Mannesmann Teaching Award (USA), Fulbright Scholarship (USA), and a nominee of the 2014 and 2015 Top 50 CEO Awards (Canada). Heavily involved in the community as a mentor and role model, Ulrike is an active Industry Advisory Board Director with Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Computer Science and is also an elected member of the International Women’s Forum. She holds an MA from the University of Houston/Rice University (USA), and a BA from the University of Siegen (Germany). Ulrike is married and has two children. She moved with her family from Israel to Nova Scotia in 2002.
