Leading Change in Changing Organizations
Presentation Synopsis: Organizations are experiencing change at unprecedented levels in order to remain relevant and function in today's environment. Large scale and transformative change is required, particularly with the continued shift from Legacy systems to new digital platforms resulting in organizations implementing multiple projects and initiatives over a compressed span of time. To successfully handle the scope of change that is being experienced and to ensure the enabling technology achieves the desired results, consideration must be given to all organizational factors and their effect on overall success. This includes equipping senior leadership with the ability to lead through fast-paced change, to align digital initiatives within the overall strategic landscape and to build change leadership capability to ensure employee engagement and confidence that consideration is given to the overall change landscape.
By sharing our insights on three key areas: 1) the change landscape; 2) the leadership change conversation and 3) the organization's overall capacity and readiness for change, we will demonstrate the difference successfully integrating these elements, combined with demonstrating compassion and commitment to leading and engaging people in times of change, will have on the organization.
Viewing organizational initiatives from a holistic perspective, rather than individually, creates greater conditions for success. A tool we have found beneficial for guiding the leadership change conversation is through the change roadmap. This perspective provides a foundation and structure of support for executive, IT and PMO leadership, and business change leaders in a way that drives greater results achievement and benefits realization.
Leading during times of change is challenging. Change leadership is a developing skill set within any organization. Regardless of where the change initiative originates, building leadership capability to lead change ensures greater organizational effectiveness through times of change.
A critical success factor for organizations undergoing multiple change initiatives is to create the capacity to accept the change required to transform. Conscious efforts to understand the impact and affect of change are required. Organizations who focus on building their leadership capacity to manage change also create an improved state of readiness and capacity to absorb the change.
Recognizing that an organization concerned with how they lead change can use these tools to help guide leadership in making change related decisions.
