GDPR compliance in the Digital Economy / Data Privacy
Presentation Synopsis: Accenture and Oxford Economics forecast that digital technologies will contribute $1.36 trillion to total global economic output by 2020. The Canadian e-commerce business is pegged at 15% year-over-year growth and is expected to further accelerate in light of the Canada European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
CETA acknowledges the need to “promote the development of electronic commerce…” and as a corollary adherence to laws and regulations that achieve a balance between the protection of privacy rights and digital commerce.
This presentation will explore the impact of a rapidly changing privacy and security framework on Canadian private and public sector entities, particularly the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which will become binding and enforceable May 2018.

- Privacy enhancing technologies and best practices with particular focus on de-identification, data minimization, data tracking and Privacy by Design.
